Good Night, Sleep Tight

Last night was one of the many transitions we will go through being parents...Lila slept in her own room, in her beautiful crib! We have been talking about making this transition for a few weeks now and it seemed right to do it now because I was going to be home with her today if everything went haywire.

Lila continues to amaze us, the whole ordeal was much harder on Mommy and Daddy than it was on her. She was a little champ, snuggling right in and drifting off to dreamland with no trouble. She got a good night's sleep and woke up this morning all smiles!

This morning looking down into her crib I couldn't believe that she was in there. After all the planning, picking out just the right bedding, painting her nursery in the attempt to make it just perfect...having her in the room, enjoying it all was the finishing touch (perfect)!

3 1/2 Months...

Little Ms. Lila is growing and growing and this week she has spent some time in her Bumbo. For those of you who don't know what a Bumbo is, it is a plastic seat that supports little ones when they sit up. The box had said that we could start using it at 3 mos. and sure enough, she really likes it. It is kind of hard to let go of the fact that she isn't a newborn anymore and it is even harder to accept how FAST she keeps changing!

This weekend we celebrated two very good friends birthdays! First, on Friday night we celebrated Monica's golden birthday! We grilled, ate birthday dessert and as always had a great time catching up. Lila was excited to show Monica and Brandon the ropes in order to get ready to have their own little one very soon! We are so excited to meet Baby Hahn and glad that Lila will have another little playmate in the near future. Happy Birthday (July 27th) Monica! We love you and are so lucky to have you in our lives!

Parenting looks good on you!

Saturday evening was our good friend Jason Clark's 40th birthday. We headed over to Jason and Jen's house to celebrate with 15 close friends and family. Clark had just gotten done riding on Ragbrai, a big accomplishment for him...he wanted to do before he turned 40! It was great catching up with everyone and extremely interesting to hear all about the adventures that Ragbrai had in store for him. Jason and his wife Jena are expecting a baby in December and they learn the sex on August 1st...we are (im)patiently waiting to find out as Jena is absolutley convinced they are having a girl this time! Big Brother Sebastian is excited either way! Happy Birthday Jason...even though we aren't blood relatives, you are family and we love you!

This week we have quite the crazy week as we don't have normal daycare. Jorden is in the Dells with her family (sounds fun) and our regular daycare provider is enjoying some time off. My Mom (Grammy) is coming to watch Lila Monday and Tuesday before she heads off to Oklahoma and then I will stay home with Lila on Wednesday, Daddy on Thursday and then Mommy again on Friday. It will actually be a nice way to spend a little more time with her before she goes to her regular daycare provider full time, it will be here before we know it.

Signing off...it's bedtime!

Where does the time go?!

Today found Mike and I talking about how quickly the time seems to go by these days. We were at Mercy hospital today visiting Mike's grandpa and we walked through the Birthplace in order to get to our car and it was kind of bittersweet. In one way it felt like yesterday that we were there, but at the same time it felt like it was a really long time ago...almost surreal. We are so busy being a Mommy and Daddy that the time really does seem to slip away we know now the true meaning of "don't blink!"

You are probably wondering about Mike's grandpa. We got a call on Saturday that Wayne was being admitted to the hospital, so we headed down to Mercy and spent a few hours making sure that grandpa had his fill of Lila love and made sure that he was cozy for the night. He was having some trouble breathing, so they wanted to keep him for a few days for observation making sure that everything is perfectly fine before letting him go. We went back up to visit him today to give him some company and the doctor came into visit and told us she recommended a cardiologist come up to take a peek to rule out heart issues. He is feeling better and is in good spirits, we are SO thankful for that! We love you Granpda Wayne...our thoughts and prayers are with you and we are hoping you get to go home very soon!

On Tuesday I took Lila into the doctor to check on some sniffles she was having. She checked out great at the doctor, just some congestion and possibly the start of a virus. They sent us home telling us to keep using saline drops to loosen up the crud and use a cool-mist humidifier while she sleeps (she is feeling much better now). We also got her weighed...she is 11 lbs. 7 ozs. getting bigger by the day! We really need to measure her, she is getting longer and longer by the minute. We had to move her into her 3 month clothing to accomodate her length and they are still rather roomy in width, so it will be interesting to see how long it takes her to fill them out.

The weather here was pretty cruddy all weekend which kept us inside most of the time, but this afternoon the sun decided to come out. We spent some time in the backyard throwing the frisbee for the dogs and giving the pups a bath...they both do really well with their baths and enjoyed getting all brushed out and cleaned up!

Speaking of the dogs...they never stray too far from where their little sister is! They do love her so much!

We also took some time today to hang up some pictures around the house. We got some custom frames put together for Lila's first pictures and we were really excited about the one we got for her nursery. We have been meaning to get the pictures hung up for a couple of weeks now...again where does the time go?

Little Miss Lila was 13 weeks on Saturday! As I said above, she is growing like a weed and making advancements everyday. She is smiling and interacting every chance she gets and loves playing with toys that light up. She is breaking our hearts a little as she gets older because she really enjoys her time on the floor playing, she doesn't want to be held as much and she lets you know that.

Happy little girl!

Mommy & Me!

Onto another busy week, I truly do look forward to working from home on Wednesday's so I get a little one on one time with Lila during the week. As much as I would like for her to go full time to her primary daycare, I will miss being able to spend that time with her. It is funny how things work out, it was viewed as an inconvenience at first, but considering I will never get this time back I really have come to understand that it is a huge blessing!

12 Weeks Old!

Yesterday marked 12 weeks since Lila was born! Mike and I have discussed the fact that it is really hard to believe it is 12 weeks already, yet we can't believe it has only been 12 weeks. She has grown SO much since she was born and we are enjoying every minute of watching her grow, explore and learn all there is to know about the world.

She is so active always kicking her legs to let you know how excited she is about something! A few favorites include swinging in her swing, playing on her play mat, reading books and bath time! We truly are blessed because she is a relatively laid back little one and is genuinely happy! She shows you just how happy she is everytime she smiles and coos at you, it is enough to melt your heart!

All smiles!

Bathtime - Curly Mohawk!

All snuggled in -- cashed out!

Life has certainly changed for us over the last 12 weeks, but neither of us would change one bit of it. Watching your little one grow is quite possibly the most amazing thing you will ever experience...to know that you created this tiny person is simply breathtaking, we can't wait for all of the other moments that will take our breath away!

Fourth of July Weekend

Happy Fourth of July! This is one of our favorite holidays! Our festivities started at a birthday party for a very special one year old! Our good friends Damon and Noelle were celebrating their daughter Jozie's 1st birthday! We had a great time celebrating with Jozie, her family and her friends! She was a happy birthday girl and too cute enjoying her cupcake!

For the fireworks we traditionally go downtown to a secret spot with friends, but since the flood we have had to forego our beloved tradition. This year we headed out to Springville to enjoy good company and good food with friends! We spent the evening with Brad, Amber and their kids, Monica, Brandon, Scott and Racquel. We had a great time and it was nice to be somewhere that when the kids were ready to call it a night the adults could still hang out and not worry about having to rush home!

This time of year it is hard to not stop and think about everything we should be thankful for, specifically living in the land of the free! Happy Birthday America!
